What is Depackaging & Material Management?
How Does Depackaging & Material Management Work?
Imagine you receive a shipment of hand sanitizer – plastic-wrapped pallets containing boxes that hold individual bottles. In a depackaging facility, the process would involve:
- Pallet Removal: The pallets, often made of wood, are carefully removed and taken for appropriate recycling or reuse programs.
- Plastic Wrap Detachment: Plastic wrap used to secure the pallets is separated and sent for clean plastic recycling.
- Box Breakdown: Cardboard boxes are broken down, sorted by type (corrugated cardboard, cardboard sleeves, etc.), and bailed for transportation for recycling.
- Inner Packaging Management: Packing peanuts, bubble wrap, or other internal packaging materials are meticulously separated and sent to designated recycling.
- Product Depackaging: State of the art machinery is used to instantaneously dissect and separate the product from its display packaging, such as plastic bottles with labels, lids or pumps. Material stream management ensures proper repurposing or recycling of all components, creating new raw materials whenever possible.
